The unused part of the hold goes back. They pay the weight on the scale.

These are Hollow Creek’s prices. The farmer demo opens on today’s pack list. Maria Gonzalez asked for 3 lb of ribeye, and that order already has her maximum on the line.

The same records in the store, the pack station, and the market.

A customer, an order, and the inventory are shared. The maximum a customer sets at checkout is the maximum charged after packing.

  1. 01 Store

    Online store

Maria Gonzalez orders 3 lb of ribeye on Hollow Creek. The estimate is ~$73.50. The most she’ll pay is $80.85. That ceiling is stored on the order.

  2. 02 Pack

    Packing

Open her order in the pack station and pick the packages. The charge cannot pass the maximum she set at checkout.

  3. 03 Market

    Market and farm stand

Saturday she buys eggs at the tent. It’s the same customer record. The receipt includes a link to the online store.

  4. 04 CSA

    CSA

A CSA box, a skipped week, and this ribeye order share her name, her card, and her pickup. A deposit on a bulk share waits on the same record.

  5. 05 Customers

    Customers

She’s bought ribeye before. She can save it as a repeat order. The next one uses the same amount and the same maximum.

Customers pay for the actual weight.

You set the maximum before they order. The charge cannot go over it, and the receipt shows when the farm covers the difference. Barn2Door, Local Line, GrazeCart, and the Shopify catch-weight apps charge the actual weight after packing and do not record a customer maximum. Their software is a monthly bill. Olympus is $0 a month.

Olympus

$0/mo

Free until you sell, then a small share of each sale. No setup fee and no contract. Card processing is Stripe’s rate, paid to the farm’s own bank. Enterprise is for a processor, several farms, or a larger operation.

Customers pay for the actual weight. You set the maximum before they order. The farm covers anything over that maximum, and the receipt says so. The online store, market and farm-stand checkout, CSA, and pickup use the same checkout.

Barn2Door

$119–$299/mo

Shown with 17–21% off for annual billing, plus a $399–$599 setup fee. A POS device is $59. The Marketing Toolkit is $39/mo.

Online, a deposit, then the final weight is entered and the balance is charged.

From those listed prices: $119 × 12 + $399 setup = $1,827, before the device or the toolkit.

Shopify + apps

$29/mo + apps

Basic is $29/mo on the yearly plan, or $39 month to month. A catch-weight app is extra: Filljoy from $19/mo, or Measura from $9.99/mo. POS Pro is another $89/mo.

Catch-weight apps edit the order to the packed weight, and the store still collects or refunds the difference. Shopify’s own capture can only go down from the original hold.

Questions

What if the weight comes in over?
If a cut comes in heavier, the pack station flags it so you can swap it. If you send it anyway, they pay the maximum they set and the receipt shows the farm covered the difference.
What if it’s under?
They pay less, automatically. Any unused card hold goes back, usually within a few days.
What about preorders weeks out?
A hold only lasts about a week, so for later pickups — and for bulk shares — we save the card at checkout and charge it after you pack. Deposits are charged up front.
What does Olympus cost?
Free until you sell, then a small share of each sale. No monthly fee, no setup fee, no contract. The share applies to sales through Olympus: the online store, the market stall, CSA, and pickup. Card processing is Stripe’s rate, paid to your bank. Enterprise is for larger operations.
Who gets the money, and when?
You do. Payments go to your own Stripe account and pay out to your bank. Olympus doesn’t hold your funds.
What if there’s no signal in the barn?
Keep packing. Weights save on the phone and sync when you’re back in range. Charges wait until then.
Is it only for meat?
No. Eggs, cheese, produce, meat, and CSA shares use the same store, the same packing list, and the same customers. Selling by the pound is one kind of product.
Can I leave?
Anytime. No contract, and no cancellation fee.
