Checkout and preorders for your market stall.
Take cards at the stall, let regulars preorder by the pound for pickup at the market, and close out cash, card, SNAP and preorders on one sheet.
For farmers-market vendors: a stall checkout on a Stripe reader, preorders picked up at the market and charged the actual weight (never more than the customer’s limit), and one close-out for every way you got paid.
Market
Checkout at the counter or the market: a card reader or cash, on the same customer records as online orders.
Online orders
An online store with pickup and delivery windows, and a pack station to weigh and fill each order.
Sell by weight
Customers order by the pound and set the most they’ll pay. They’re charged the actual packed weight, never more than that.
Free until you sell, then 1% of each card sale.
No monthly fee and no setup fee. Card processing is Stripe’s standard rate. See the full math.
Questions
- What does Stall Ledger cost?
- No monthly fee and no setup fee. 1% of each card sale, plus Stripe’s processing (2.7% + 5¢ on a reader and 2.9% + 30¢ online). Cash is free.
- Is it cheaper than Square or SumUp?
- Not on swipe fees for most sales. Their free plans charge less per in-person swipe once a sale passes a few dollars; the card fee calculator on this site shows the math with their published rates. Stall Ledger is for vendors who want weighed preorders without partial refunds and one ledger for the whole market day.
- Can regulars preorder by weight?
- Yes. They order “about 2 lb” and set the most they’ll pay. You weigh the order before the market, and they’re charged the actual weight, never more than their limit.
- Can I take SNAP/EBT and market tokens?
- You can record SNAP taken on the market’s or your state’s terminal, and market tokens, so they show up in your close-out. Stall Ledger doesn’t process EBT cards itself.
- What happens with no signal at the market?
- Card sales from the browser need a connection. An Android register app that records cash, SNAP and tokens with no signal, and takes cards offline on a Stripe Reader M2, is coming soon.
- Which card readers work?
- Stripe readers: the Stripe Reader M2, BBPOS WisePOS E, and Stripe Reader S700 and S710.
